Chinese Celery

Chinese Celery:
Chinese celery is much thinner than the regular European celery, but has a stronger flavor than the regular one, with hollow stalks, its edible part is long and thicken with green or green white in colour. Chinese celery is a healthy vegetable, which often used in many stir-fries and soups.

Use:
Trim off the leaves and cut off the ends of each stalk, rinse thoroughly through cold running water, to remove any dirt or sand, blanch briefly in boiling water until turns a beautiful jade green, about 1 minute, do not make it too long for the sake of crisp, then drain well in a colander before using.
Cut the stalks on the diagonal into 1-inch length pieces, stir fry for a main dish or combine with other veggies for a salad.
Cooking tips:
1. Prepare only before cook in order to retain the freshness.
2. While washing, don’t soak in water for too long.
3. Add pinch of salt into the water while you wash them helps to wash off dirt or sand.
4. Using stainless steel knives to cut, this can minimize the loss of nutrition indeed.
5. Cooking right after preparation to prevent loss of vitamins in air.
Storage:
1. Store in the vegetable crisper section of the refrigerator with original package, will stored for up to several weeks.
2. Rinse until you use. DO NOT store after rinsing, If the celery you brought is too wet, please wipe the excess water away, then warp with newspaper before refrigerating.
3. The longer the vegetables kept, the lesser the nutrients retained in.

Celery is rich in protein, diet fiber, phosphorus, calcium, iron, potassium, carotene and vitamin B. Chinese celery can lower high blood pressure effectively. At the same time, you can find Chinese celery in weight-loss diets.
