Chinese barbecue sauce, also called hoisin sauce, is a fregrant flavoring condiment regularly used in Chinese stir-fries, as well as noodle recipes. Made from a combination of water, fermented bean sauce, soy bean, vinegar, garlic, and other Chinese authentic spices, such as red chili peppers, the flavor of Chinese barbeque suace is described as salty, spicy, and slightly sweet. Hoisin sauce is quite different from the western barbeque sauce, which is often tomato or mustard-based. If you are a Chinese food lover, add hoisin sauce in your stir-fries is a great way to enjoy authentic Chinese flavor.

Chinese barbeque sauce is usually brushed on pork, beef, chicken and other barbecued foods after cooking or during barbequing. Usually it used in "Peking Duck", spring rolls, egg roles, and so on.
