Cumin is a flowering plant that has small and dark fennel-like seeds. As a spice, ground cumin has a warm, lingering aroma and a pleasing pungent flavor, often used in salads and other dishes when a spicy flavor is desired. When combined with garlic, ginger, cinnamon, chili powder, and other seasonings, ground cumin makes a terrific flavorful rub for meats, such as beef and chicken.

Purchasing tips:
When choosing cumin, high-quality cumin powder should be oily in texture and khaki in color, and remember purchasing in small quantities each time as it lose flavor easily.
